I recently bought a Canon 7D (see other post) and today I spurred for the 5D mkII. Full-frame is so much sweeter and wide, and I can put the 24-70mm f/2.8L USM to proper work. It's too narrow on cropped on the 7D because the APS-C CMOS sensor.
Here's my advice: If you shoot action, get the 7D. It's insanely great value.
However, if you shoot portraits, low light, or mostly landscape, GET THE 5Dmkii! It is AMAZING! :)

San Diego McChicken!
San Diego McDonalds have brought back the McRib to the menu, and we also have two extra "limited time" McChickens.
The new flavors are Jalapeño Cheddar and Cheddar Onion. I tried them both today, and I have to say that the Jalapeño Cheddar was actually spicy and had a kick to it. I'm not a fan of the Cheddar on the Cheddar Onion, but it was something special and unique from the usual boring McChicken.

Med School
Why am I upset? Isn't this blog about the happy things in life, like photography, automobiles, and humour?
All laughter eventually comes to end; for me, it is the thought of the intense competition of med school.
Do you know what it's like to apply for med school? Let me enlighten you. While the minimum GPA is often only 2.5 or 3.0, the average of acceptance is near 4.0 or higher. That means if you don't have a 3.5 GPA, don't even bother applying.
What about the applicants? How many people are applying? Often over 15,000 applicants.
And interviews... how many interviews? possibly 300.
And acceptances? Seats available? Only 60.
SIXTY SEATS. PER YEAR.
That's basically a 0.4% acceptance rate.
Now think of all those damn Indians who do nothing but study. They score perfect on everything because they know everything. They do NOTHING BUT STUDY. Do they eat? No. They're Ghandi. Do they drink? Possibly while reviewing flashcards. Do they sleep? No. THEY STUDY!
100% on all exams and midterms, and perfect record. How am I ever going to compete against these people?
Sad sad day, indeed.

University Life
After a few weeks in the big University, it is easy to get lost amongst the thousands of students. My current University has over 23,000 undergraduates alone, with about 5,000 graduates. Most students are lost amongst the crowd, and everyone is just a blend of faces.
Lectures are no longer face-time with professors; instead, it is a form of dictatorship where hundreds of students type away and trying to process the words of an aging professor. It lacks vigor, communication, and personality as much as it makes up with efficiency and technicality.
Lecture halls are so enormous, cramped chock full of hungry college students with squished into small spaces. God forbid you are obese, as every hour of discussion and lecture is hell.

Google Chrome
I've got a major bone to pick with Google chrome. Sure it's lightning quick and fairly stable, but there are also a few issues that should be dealt with.
Firstly, it should render all websites just as well as Firefox or IE. It often have problems with basic HTML and Java, and won't even let me post links using Google's own publisher.
Secondly, Chrome has trouble supporting some of the online applications at the same speed and consistency as Firefox. It often crashes even when viewing youtube, which is rare for any browser.
Before you angrily assume my computer is at fault, my PC is running Win7x86Pro, Intel 860 i7, 4GB DDR3 1333, and a GTX 280 (OC).
Meh; I think I'll go back to using Firefox like it's 2007....

Air Show
I'm thinking about going to an Air Show this weekend at Miramar.
The Navy's Blue Angels have been doing practice runs all afternoon, so all of San Diego and La Jolla was subject to ear-piercingly loud rumbles of F/A-18 Hornets. To top it off, the rare thunderstorm and rain has made everything smell refreshingly springy and clean.
Here's a photo I took from the balcony of my apartment just an hour or so ago (as of this posting).

Just watched my chemistry professor light thermite
in class as a demonstration of hetergenous exothermic reactions.
You may remember thermite from the Mythbuster's episode of asking "is it better to end with a bang?". Jamie and Adam used thermite to cut an SUV in half. Pretty awesome.
Blue sparks, thick smoke, and dripping lava-hot iron.
Chemistry ain't so bad at the university level, eh?

Does anyone remember the film Matilda, starring and directed by Danny Devito? Great film for the 90's generation. Very inspirational, good themes, and completely rewatchable as an adult.

Anthropology
As an Anthropology Major at the University of California, San Diego, I see plenty of ethnocentric activity and sentiments on the web. People are verbally abusive towards minorities across the world in a medium where accountability is inexistent and anonymity is easy.
I can't say that I support the medium through where most of my peers talk to strangers, but I think it is always important to keep in mind that the things we say, even when we don't mean them, influence the people around us and ourselves.
With that being said, keep and open mind, be respectful (if not accepting) of others, and in all situations of doubt or uncertainty, keep your mouth shut.
I promise to post more, but keep coming back to read my backlog of 50-odd posts. None of them are as serious as this one, I promise ;)

New Cell Phone!
Just got a new cell phone after my 2 year contract expired. I'm currently on T-Mobile, and my family plan is around $75 for 750 minutes (we don't use those much), unlimited text (I text a LOT), and unlimited nights, weekends, and mobile to mobile. They also gave us $200 in rebates and three new cell phones!
I don't have a 3G data plan, but I got the Nokia Nuron 5230 anyways. It's an AMAZING phone for the price! Sure it doesn't have iPhone capabilities, but I have an iPod touch for that anyways. Blutooth syncing is a bliss, and everything just WORKS.

The perfect temperature
What do you think is the perfect temperature?
Where my parents live, it averages around 80'F - 90'F
in the summer, with it being around 75'F - 85'F indoors without air conditioning.
I currently reside in San Diego, where the weather is rarely over 80'F. It's always nice and balmy inside my apartment, and around a cool 65'F outdoors. I'm most comfortable around 72'F, where it's cool enough to wear a tshirt and warm enough not to have to wear a jacket.
What about you guys? What's the weather like where you live, and what do you prefer the temperature is for you to be most comfortable
